Firefox Download Manager

Post by PeteH »

I have always used the freeware DAP to download and have found it very good and fast.

Since Firefox installed 3.6.3 the Firefox Downloader overides DAP even when I right click and specifically tell it to use DAP. Both Firefox and DAP confirm that DAP is integrated into Firefox.

Can the Firefox Download Manager be disabled? The Firefox website gives no clues.

Any Ideas anyone?

I hate software that thinks it knows what's best for me and does as it likes and not as I want. A bit like politicians really but don't get me onto that.

Hi Pete,

I don't think you can deactivate the native Firefox downloader....however you can over-ride it:

The Flashgot plugin lets you set and use your preferred download manager...it may take a couple more clicks but it works and looking at my installation it supports DAP ;)

Hope this helps.
