DH104 Repaint permission request

Post by ejoiner »

Dear Dove Development team, I would like to request your permission to upload some DH 104 repaints I have done. I recently discovered your wonderful work and have really, really enjoyed it.

The two repaints are shown in images attached.

1. Apache Airlines DH-104 flown in the Southwestern USA as a regional carrier.

2. A DH-104 Devon of the RAF Transport Command. This was the first DH104 built in 1946 and was used as a crew transport in the Battle of Britain memorial flight.

3. Lastly, I also have created a new panel bitmap for use with the RAF bird. This is representative of the updated panel used in the real aircraft. On my own system, I have this panel configured with Reality XP gauges and GPS equipment. I wont upload any gauges or anything other than the bitmap configured to handle the standard package distribution. Please advise if its ok to use this panel. Otherwise I can keep it for myself.

In any case, Im so pleased to be enjoying your work and that of the Dove team. Of course full credit will be given for all in the documentation.

Thanks in advance and kind regards
Eric Joiner

Hi Eric,

You don't need permission to upload repaints as long as it's textures only, not the full model and that original credits are given as per the readme in the model download ;)

I would like to point out however that your RAF paint is on the wrong mark of Devon. When the Dove was released we tried to discourage sr8 paints on the srs5/6 models as, well, they're just plain wrong and a srs8 model was in progress:

The model is actually based on the aircraft you have represented, to which we had access and a few flights. Note the different style canopy and engine details. The model has been on hold whilst I concentrated on the Herons but it will be released at some point.

During the course of the Dove's development we amassed a huge amount of reference material and whilst the subtle differences between the various series are a bit of a minefield we try to maintain authenticity ;)

The original panel was developed with a period look in character with the age of the aircraft. There are no issues with you distributing a 'modernised' panel bmp with appropriate credits for the original model.

Regards,

Derek

Thanks Derek for the advice and input. I realize the model on the G-DHDV RAF bird isnt the right model, but lacking one, I painted her as is. If you prefer, I will hold off releasing that one until a correct model is available. I am thrilled however that one may be coming down the pike! Between that one and the Heron, there is much to look forward to then!

For release of the Apache Airlines bird, do I need to release exclusively thru CBFS, or is Avsim etc allowed?

kind regards and Happy Easter to all!

Eric

HI Eric

Dereks not around for now

It is OK to release the model wherever you wish as long as it's textures only and the conditions in the read me regarding credit etc are met.

NIce paints btw. B)smk

.. or to put it another way,
You don't need permission to upload repaints as long as it's textures only, not the full model and that original credits are given as per the readme in the model download
There are certain sites (I'm sure you know who they are) that constantly abuse authors wishes but no one will have an issue with you uploading to one of the majors.. Avsim, Flightsim.com e t c ;)
