Wessex help please.....

hi all, gents can anyone tell me please what mark the 84sqn wessex were.....
i have been given a wessex kit and i soooo fancy doing it in 84s colours


i want to paint it in the grey that it retired in....

is it a Mk 5?

No not yet, im waiting for the decal set to arrive, but the wessex kit is a mk HU5

Neil..

According to Wiki, 84Sqn used Wessex HC2 then HC5C and finally HAR2 so the last would've been an HC5C.. if Wiki is correct :)

Ok i think i might get away with a HU5 then as the kit....

i have a VC10 , Lightning F6, an AWACS (1/72nd hughe) all waiting for the spray shop...this weekend i hope....

and now the wessex!! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

From memory of my time on the dear old lady, 84 sqn only used this hybrid HC5 (basically the RN junglie spec Wessex) for their UN duties in Cyprus. They had Whirlwinds for a long time after everyone else had traded them for Wessex HC2s, so ended up with some diverted Navy stuff. Apart from the larger cabin windows than the HC2, the comms fit and (I think) engine specs were different, not much else.
