DX9 vs DX10/11

Post by DanKH »

Hi

Some of you FSX-developers may be able to answer this....

Genuine FS models shows up fine using DX10 preview, but many if not all 3rd party does not ... why?

Is it due to the programs used for texturing that don't allow for DX10 compatbility, or is there soemthing else?

And finally: is there a way to "convert" dx9 generated texures to dx10/11 compatible textures?
(That doesn't need the original source files from the developers)

FS9 port-overs will not work in DX10. Models compiled with the FSX tools should be OK

Yep, after you've redone all the animations to FSX standards, converted the materials to FSX ones, added bump and spec maps...
