Very nice Gary, well presented and equally importantly, well flown. Seen plenty of other FS videos of poor / jerky quality and some very dubious flying (hard landings well off the centreline, very late gear retractions, lack of appropriate lights, flaps etc!!). Rick's Vanguard still looks (and sounds) spot on. I saw 'EP's last taxi down the Brooklands runway in 2004.
I did wonder about the smoke but I assumed it must be part of the original model. I'm not a combustion engineer, but logically, the smoke is really (relatively large) carbon particles arising from incomplete combustion. I believe that water injection made it worse but I think only turbojets and some of the very early turbofans had that.
Nicely shot vid but where in god's name did that paint and sound come from Were it anything BUT a Vanguard and that particular one..
The paint is older than god's dog and should be replaced immediately (look in the Members Forum and get the VA packs). The sound.. well, that might have been a WWII bomber! (the VA pack should get rid of that too) The smoke.. as already mentioned. Vanguards were not without a little bit depending on what they were doing but in normal ops.. NO SMOKE and certainly no smoke EVER like that whatever it was doing.
As I said.. a nicely shot vid but that model is so alien, I don't recognise it
My model was yonks old I downloaded the VA pack and can't see anything different .. The sounds are really nice though,,,what is that distinct loud whine?
The VA pack contain all new texture, new panel, new sound...only the model is the same
The loud whine in the Vanguard was cause by compressers on the inboard engines effectively acting like sirens
One was removed form #2 on some Merchantemen, including G-APEP. So if you watch a vid of the engine runs you get that sound but only when he winds up #3

Yup.. the VA pack 1 contains all the original paints and pack 2 covers new paints for all the additional Vanguards giving one unique paint for each registration. Over a period of time, I updated all of the original paints too (including PEP.. an aircraft close to my heart) and these were available to those who wanted them TBH.. the new paints give the old model a new lease of life. Rick got the shape pretty much bang on first time round and the paints transform it from an old looking model to a new one
The proper sounds are great aren't they
Thanks for the input Guys, i just checked out the engine run up at brooklands, WOW! what a beautiful sound
The Belfast had Tynes as well, i don't remember them whining........maybe i'm just getting too old
The Belfast, CL-44, Transall don't whine as they don't have the compressors.......as mentioned, that is what gave the Vanguard it's unique sound...only on #3 on G-APEP
