I've seen that on the odd occassion too.. most disconcerting but it goes as soon as you're on the move.. that is, out of slew :) I've been thinking about the Aerosoft Cat. The screenies only show one 'Brit' paint and it has a VINGTOR flag on the nose. Is that all you get other than the US/oddball/Calypso paints?? Can's justify the dosh if there's no correct UK paint for it I'm afraid *-)

I have a love hate relationship with the Aerosoft cat. The model is superb, the VC perfect with little impact to fps (on my system).
The relistic engine mode is far too fiddly and un-predictable in my opinion. You get the engines started, then they die, then they start, then they die, then they run rough and after many minutes (probably 20 or more) of faffing around you taxi out to find they pack up entirely. That's after following the proceedures exactly. Compared to the A2A P47 realism mode which is perfect (if you want a P47 and can suffer the expense it rearly is perfect. Even the sound of opening and closing the canopy with resultant vacuum suck is modelled!) the cat sucks a little.
You can fly the Cat in normal mode (which I tend to do) and the engine sounds including max power are to die for.
The biggest problem with the cat is, like the real aeroplane, it's pretty booring. Max speed 120knots if your lucky with a wind and ju88 behind you :-). But then it is a long range recon aircraft so if big oversea trips are your thing it's the aircraft for you.

Don't let me put you off. It's a great plane, looks great and a proper big ww2 radial. Flys okay too. So if you want a cat I doubt you will get better.

As for British colour schemes there are many. I did a restore point restore on my vista system and it blew away a lot of files so I lost my Killer Cat and Coastal Comand schemes.

Hi Dog Tail,

Yes as Dave says for some reason that appears when you Slew, I have no idea why it does it, but I used to get exactly the same thing as I moved around her in slew mode to check on the textures during development.

Annoying I know, but hopefully not too much to put you off using her.

Hi,

no, won't put me off it's a very nice ship. Something for the Hellcat and Corsair to land on. I can get the Sea Gladiator down but without hook awkward to stop!

Which is what put me off getting it, no problem adding a virtual invisible hook but the real thing had a visible one I think, possibly the land model with a RN paint for a few dollars more maybe with no extra work.

Not sure about that Rich.. not looked hard enough yet. However, Ted's comment about the 'ultra real' start/running procedures didn't bode too well as I don't have time to sit and fart around. I take it 'normal mode' for idle gits like me?? *-)

You can select normal engines so all the fafing around is removed with a quick CTRL+E.
Realistic mode is frustrating. You get one engine running sweet. While going through the checks for the other engine the first starts to die, run roungh, and before you can work out what's wrong it's dead. This proceedure normally repeats several times.
Unlike the A2A p47. She's sometimes hard to get going but once running providing you watch the temps and warm her up you very rarely get problems. In fact the Cat has you reaching for the turn off realism setting where as the P47 has you wanting more!

Tks for that mate. I had a go in the Iris Vulcan recently and by the time I'd got the engines running.. the rest of the squadron would have reached their target and been on the way back  I like the idea of having a 'real' mode but not at the expense of NOT having a 'wash and go' mode ;)

Didn't the real Vulcans have a wash and go button pressed by the last man in and simultaneously started all four engines??

Or am I imagining it *-) :help:

Sorry I should have clarified I was talking about the Sea Gladiator seems there is'nt one just a repaint in RN colours for a land model unless I have missed something.

Yes mate.. that's modelled.. but didn't work for me. The ignition start is one thing but other switches have to be made and they're not on the same side of the flightdeck 8) I dunno if I actually made all 4 engines start or if the model felt some sympathy for me and started itself
