I don't usually do civil

Post by dswanson »

But this bird is a joy to fly. Sedate and predictable with a lift off at 85kt

Two mailplane versions were conscripted into RAF duties - anyone fancy a repaint ?

I have black and white photo of one of the two camo ones (Frobisher?) at Glosters in 1939 somewhere......Prehaps Pete W can use his new found camoflage paints to help

There is a simple bodge somewhere on here to give it the fuel tank capacity of the mail plane version - but the mail plane had fewer windows if it matters. I have the DeH in-house comic that describes the mail plane in some detail. Basically a flying fuel tank, so not too much need for the windows!

A Flamingo would be nice sometime too...............

Now that's an aeroplane that I'd love to still exist. Gorgeous. :agree:

I think I twisted Pete Ws arm far enough up his virtual back ;)

and I was wrong the photos all show "Faulkner" in camoflage - some show it with squadron letters some without -- I also seem to remember a profile from long ago with one (I still think Frobisher)
in camo with a black registration with the BOAC red white and blue striping underneath it.

anyone provide any further data???

Degsy (and anyone else who is interested) Peter Watkins has posted some WIP shots of the camo Albatross over at the pond ---in the Gallery (classic British screenshots)

He said that unless Jens does a MAJOR rebuild you will all have to put up with ALL the windows (The RAF ones being mailplanes had windows blocked out) but other than that its a nice bit of kit.

just a taster

And as usual I was wrong -- its "Franklin"

Leif,

Thanks for the arm twisting.

I think I can put up with a few windows.

I'll await the download announcement.
