Re: REX FS9 released
Thanks Colin and Ben. It looks as good as I'd hoped and as I've got a few days off I'll be treating myself to it in the next few days.

Re: REX FS9 released
Thanks for the heads up...I am enjoying it very much. I've printed the manual as it is quite a learning curve. The manual is well produced and you DO need to read it. I'm still working hard with 208 Squadron but they are now going to have some real weather acclimatisation!
Working with the squadron today, I took a few shots with REX real weather in action:-

I particularly liked this Finger Four take-off with the undercariages retracting in unison

Re: REX FS9 released
Yes, I thought it looked pretty good too Ben
Been busy number crunching again today starting another set of "Ghost Airfields" on the other side of Stradishall...This will enable me to run the flypasts from one to the other to give a longer period of viewing before they turn. I've made it easy for myself on these ones as they flypast East to West or vica versa and that means the the Latitudes stay constant...The big crunch will come when I build the sets of ghosts for the tracks out to Kenya, as these must be orientated along their Tracks so no points will have anything in common and I will have to shuffle both Lats and Longs for each node

Re: REX FS9 released
OK - here's my REX screenshot. As you would expect the cloud and water textures are wonderful and the different light effects are stunning.

But so many options
The manual is 68 pages and the choices are bewildering. 57 types of cumulus and 22 cirrus to choose from. How much plankton do you like in your sea? And what type of waves? Taxiway markings, asphalt, concrete - several of each available. How about your coral sea? Would you like algae or kelp with that? I don't know!
You can just choose one of the 'themes' or make your own theme, let REX choose a random theme or just use RW weather. But there's always that nagging doubt that you haven't chosen the best
So far, I've done a lot more fiddling than I have flying. In fact it takes me so long to set up a flight nowadays that I don't have time to take off
Lovely program, though, whatever theme you choose!
EDIT: This is RW weather at PAJN SPB this morning and shows a water texture. But I don't know - perhaps a smidge more plankton?
I'll need to decide before I touch down

Yes the water here in the SPB looks pretty nice...

...especially when photographed against the light.

Although not quite so nice when the fog rolls in
