Groune Environment Europe X Released

Post by ChrisHunt »

As it says above, GEX Europe should be released in the next week or so. The sneak peek thread for GEX Europe over at Sim Forums has been closed - sad really as it's been around a long time. My intention is to post some before and after pics of Scotland to show the difference between default and GEX. It's looking very good and is one of the most eagerly awaited releases for FSX for some time.

Regards,
Chris

GEX Europe has been released. The highlights are:

· Complete coverage of Europe which extends from the Arctic circle through southern Greece.
· Enhanced textures to assist in rendering clear visuals as low as 250-500ft in many places.
· 1m/pixel - 1024 x 1024 Textures – No excessive resolution to render or to fill hard drive.
· High volume autogen layout designed to work in tandem with autogen slider position.
· Structured texture layout to assist in covering most landclass products.
· All seasons including incredible snowy winters and mountain terrain.
· Special features/upgrades for Ultimate Terrain X Europe users.
· 2D enhancements produce simulated 3D depth in textures.
· Textures derived from licensed Arial and Satellite imagery.
· FSX tree render issue addressed in autogen annotation.
· Upgrade for USA-Canada users, no switching required.
· FSX road night lighting upgraded (Default and UTX).
· Realistic custom designed night textures.
· Highly detailed aerial views.
· Natural seasonal blending.

The list above is from the simforums GEX forum and is expanded to provide greater detail here http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_p ... ?TID=32261

Downloading as I type (second time - I forgot to disable power saving the first time around, PC went to sleep part way through  )

Hi Eddie, yes mate very... in addition to providing much improved textures it also improves performance a bit so you can either have a smoother flight or more detail. In addition the exchange rate means that it comes out at about £27 which is good for full European coverage. If not already got, it works best with Ultimate Terrain X for Europe and the SceneryTech landclass for Europe. Night lighting is also improved and gives a much better impression of population centres. Autogen trees and buildings are better placed and more appropriate to whereever you happen to be.

A good plus point is that it will continue to be improved over time rather than stay a static product.

Hope this helps with your decision. To get the best out of it it's definately worth reading Nick Needham's treatise on how to set up FSX; for example upping the slider for autogen seems counter intuitive but it definately works.

Regards,
Chris

Cheers for that Chris. Will give it some thought. It does sound tempting.

Although I have recently bought Alderney & Horizon's Western Isles (yes I decided to buy it!).

So I may have to wait til after Christmas. :'( :'(
