Getting back to the original subject and accuracy or lack thereof
I seem to remember literally spending hour upon hour with Garry when he was doing the original paints for Ricks 748 when it was in beta. Primarily as to why Skyways/CoachAir/Sykways/DanAir and Dan air 748s appeared in so many different colour schemes and variations -- and spending a whole night inspecting three photographs of a particular aircraft figuring out if what four of us was seeing was paint fading or a different shading. I have known Garry for almost five years now and respect his knowledge and abilities both as a painter and now a builder, I think his comments as to what are factual and what is fictional are valid...we ALL have some fictional work in our hangars but when it comes to the a virtual history of the HS748 or any dart powered aircraft I think he has the final world. My advice to Markus would be this -- If it satisfies you to produce something that is not 100% accurate thats fine - But I would suggest that if you do - you do NOT present it in the forum as being accurate - there are far to many people who KNOW these classics intimately to do that -- When someone says -- Darts dont smoke -- You can take it to the bank - if it pleases the rest of the community to have something that is TOTALLY inaccurate then take it and hawk it there....btw -- The smudging on the flaps wasn't that marked either...why? because back then they had apprentice's who cleaned the bloody airplanes! Dan Air who was known in the early days for having neither a regulated paint scheme or clean enviorments (the Ambasadors bellies were painted black to hide all the oil from the Centauraus -- well thats the legend anyway).

Ah yes Leif
Dan Air....on the last livery it seemed each one was painted slightly different
Remebr Dan Air Skyways how one has a different cheatline as that was an over painted Dan Air where the others were over painted Skyways. It's details like that that make a difference.
Indeed hours of research went into each livery from marking style and position to the amount of dirt as most airlines then kept aircraft fairly clean on the fuse at least. Every title I did on 56 liveries had to be created as none were fonts as such.
The last 748 paint I did or the project was Venture but it was the second started such was the time taken to find a pic of the starboad side to check the fin orientation.......Yes Venture was a real airline

Re: Air Inuit HS.748
Huh - I didn't intend to start this kind of uproar...
To state this clear:
I don't feel like a ton of bricks hit me!
And I'm not discouraged at all!
I started repainting about a year ago, and I consider discussions like this as very helpful to accomplish my skills.
The point is that there are different approaches to accuracy, and it was me submitting this judgement here.
Lacking other sources, I have to rely on the pics available at airliners.net or other sites. And if I don't retrieve a source telling me how the tailplane or the flap's upper surface looks like, I'd rather use common sense (you might tell it guesswork) to imagine how this section might or should look like.
In my eyes, simulation is about imagination.
Smudgy flaps on this aircraft made sense to me, because I couldn't imagine an AIR INUIT apprentice cleaning them after every landing in harsh arctic weather conditions...
I didn't have sleepless nights on my decision to gratefully accept Premaircraft's invitation to contribute a 'Blue Angels' livery to their new released C-130J. I know the real Blue Angels support aircraft is not a J model, but I could imagine that if they used one, it should look this way. I emphasized this fiction in the readme file.
I can not imagine the German Luftwaffe using a Hercules, so I'll never ever do this kind of fictional livery.
This is my ideal of accuracy.
Garry's is different.
I admire his attitude and highly enjoy his work.
Peace!
Regards,
Markus.
