Reboot problems with FS9

Post by blanston12 »

I have an old P4 that I use for doing VA flights, recently its been giving me problems by rebooting as I have been starting my flights. Sometimes as I am just powering up the engines, once or twice as I was reaching my cruise altitude.

First thing I did was backup my flight sim directory, wiped the hard disk clean, installed a fresh copy of windows XP and restored FS, same problem.

This morning I replaced the old Radion 9200 video card with a gForce 6200, but the first flight I tested rebooted just as I was taking off.

This happens with both my copy of FS9 that has all my extra aircraft, modules and scenery in it, and the copy of FS9 I have that is installed clean out of the box.

Any suggestions as to what to try, I am now thinking the machine is good as dead.

Sounds like either the MoBo or the PSU giving up the ghost mate.... *-)

Possible, I don't think its the PSU since it does seam to happen when FS starts to do things and if it was the PSU it would happen at random times. So its probably something in the MoBo, could it be the memory, could it be the CPU, could it be the board itself, i suspect by the time I found out I would have purchased myself a whole new system, one piece at a time.
