Graphics quality

Post by ajb »

This is something that has been bugging me for months. Quite often there are screenshots posted on the various forums here which show almost photographic qualities in their detail. I gaze on enviously. But looking at my own setup and especially the graphics card I am surprised that I can't achieve similar results. I've got the card setup for AA and all the other usual recommended settings and things look good but not anything like some of the screenshots I see. I even have to run DMs utility to change aircraft textures to DXT3 so that they don't appear grainy. Am I missing a trick here? How do you get higher quality graphics?

Andy,

Could you give us an exa,ple (i.e. Post a screenshot) os an aircraft that other folk here would have, at a given location with whatever addon scenery you have and then others can post their shots of the same aircraft / location for comparison?

Ben,

Oh f.. f.. flip!! I know what's wrong. It's me. I'm a pillock. I keep running FS9 in 1024*768 mode instead of 1280*1024. Just noticed the problem whilst tearing my hair out trying to figure it out. Fixed my startup script. Problem solved. Sorry! :hide:

I'll get me coat......

I used to run like that before I upgraded, Tony. Then I got clever :$ Serves me right. Now, got to start thinking about upgrading my monitor so that I can access better resolutions.

I found that AA in the card not the sim just never did it for me making things look a little blurred whatever card/drivers I used. But AA in the sim and the nHancer profile give me great visuals and due to nHancer I get great landscapes no or little blurries...
Move to the otherside... I did twice and both times it was like going to Wales, rained all the time in fact using FSX was as much fun as watching a 2hr Krankies Show RIP.
The only thing FSX did for me was make me use a VC a bit more which I now do in FS9. What it did convince me of was the poor value sim it really is and I mean that by pointing out that a lot and I mean a lot of add-ons are not free.....
FS9 Rocks and Rules

Yep.. and a 2hr Krankies show that seemed like it lasted for 4hrs

There is only one sim and it doesn't have an 'X' in the title
