Agreed, go 64bit. I've been that way (oooer) for a couple of years without any problems. Only thing to watch out for is if you've got some particularly old and gnarly software otherwise all should be well.

With an Ipod you can edit the track information via itunes so as not to have all the tracks mixed up. I've got a 32gb Touch docked up to my Onkyo. Sounds great when cd's are ripped as lossless

Yep, you can edit the track info on any of the software, itunes / sonic stage etc, but you shouldn't have to. Thats the point. Editing the information for 475 CD's isn't an atractive proposition. What I don't understand is why Apple / Sony etc can't just leave the albums as the artist intended.
