Hmm! Living in the Western Isles I was really looking forward to this one. Thirty quid though :(( If I buy it I'll be super critical and looking at the screenshots I only recognise one! Wonder if they included my house. Pity it's FSX only; I prefer FS9.

I suppose it is dear.

But Earth simulations charge £17.99 (CD version) for their Alderney. And you get even less for your money there.

Incidently they are offering this GenX product for £24.99. *-)

Alderney is much more than just photo scenery. There's a fully modelled airport plus custom autogen, and you get 5 seasonal variations.

Play.com tend to sell Horizon stuff at their usual large discount. They were doing the GenX2 boxes at £20 each.

Supply and demand. If they don't sell much then the price'll probably drop. They are entitiled to charge what they want and your entitled to not buy it if you think it's too much. Sorry hate all this griping about price- unless of course a products not what it's claimed to be. I shouldn't think photoscenery for this part of the world is cheap to buy - and wouldn't think there would be a great deal of demand for it.

I think most of the community would have prefered they start with the mainland Scotland thats all... and I'd imagine it more saleable.

I bought my two recent volumes via Amazon.co.uk for about 10 quid less than the RRP. Trouble is with the posties going on strike, you may well lose it forever!!

My educated guess is that their choice of location was dictated by cloud cover elsewhere, which is hampering the completion of orthophoto coverage for Scotland (for any application, not just the FS niche). This was likely [one of] the first area[s] to be completed and they probably wanted to go ahead and market it so as to maintain interest in VFR scenery of Scotland in general and their brand of products in particular. Others have been begging for any bit of VFR Scotland for ages.

Still can't say I like the price tho. I suspect this is in part due to the 60cm sampling, but I'd rather have 1m and pay less.

I agree with DaveG, Alderney is a completely different product. On top of what DaveG said it also includes bespoke buildings, which you certainly will not see in VFR Scotland!
