Loss of control

Post by gruntfuttock »

Newbie here... Has anyone seen this FSX problem before? Flying straight & level in, say, DC3 (any variant), aircraft will bank sharply and drop out of the sky, more often than not happens on finals. Control surfaces do not move when this happens, any correction over-compensates. Also with ATC window open zoom feature disabled until map is "read", and right rudder (enter) key sometimes brings up a flight plan screen - this appears to be cured by sending a radio message! Do I have some sort of bug? Any suggestions gratefully received...

Not something I've seen. Sounds like your joystick or flight yoke might be faulty? *-)

I had a spell of a similar but not identical problem ; in my case the a/c would pitch down sharply and irrecoverably when on short finals at about 200 feet . I'm afraid I never found out the cause, but it disappeared after I reloaded the affected a/c

You'll probably find that when you open the ATC window it then assumes focus. The zoom keys are actually increment/decrement keys and have different affects depending on which window has focus, if you click the mouse in the main window the zoom keys should start working again.

Thanks to those who responded... Zoom solution noted. It's not a joystick/yoke problem as I'm using keyboard! Further experiments/experience tend to suggest my a/c objects to other traffic in the area - hence worse near airports. I have tried reloading program, and to different PC - no change.
