AI BAC 1-11 repaints

Post by Effoh »

Hi all,

Does anyone have any repaints for either the DWAI or JBAI 1-11 AI model? Looking for any and all you may have for my 70s AI Project. Failing that, is it possible, with DM's permission of course, to convert his model to AI, and if so, how?

Many thanks in advance,

Rgds,

Colin

Hi Mate,

Any fixed wing model can be used in AI, but remember that these are FS9 models, so the VC component is part of the model itself, meaning that for each one you have on screen, the PC has to load the entire model. In short, these aren't best suited for AI, although I have a few in my virtual skys, the frame hit is quite significant. Much less of a hit on things like the VC10, VC9 Viscount etc.

If your using FS9, you need to make the aircraft.txt file from Traffic Tools List the aircraft you want to use, i.e. AC#1, BAC 1-11 Aerlingus (or whatever the repaint title is in the aircraft.cfg) then in the flightplan.txt file every time AC#1 is referenced it will be the aircraft you've specified in the aircraft.txt file.

There a fair bit more to AI than that, but if you need more info just shout. :)

In support of Bens post.....if you can get hold of the older pre VC models of the One-Eleven, that would be better.

I tought there was an AI version of the VC 10 or at least some instructions on DM's site.......or has my brain fried :worried:

Hi Garry..

Yes mate.. there is a dedicated AI VC10 on DM's site and the difference between that and the normal model is significant. I'm sure I have old versions of DM's pre-VC models (I don't throw anything away that's why I can never find anything!!) but DM also did VC and non VC later versions me thinks :) That said.. they're not 'low poly' like the VC10 so enough of those in view will still make your eyes water :'(

You can also use GA traffic which will make a simplified version of ANY model by removing things like VC .

Ive done Daves 1-11s and Ricks 748 it works great without losing the beauty of the model

Hi Leif,

I'd forgotten about GA-Traffic - I'll give that a bash when I get home.

Many thanks!
