Hang your head in shame Sketchy. How dare you unlease an over-burdened texture monster on the world

I can't imagine it being bettered in FS9 as I really don't see any hit at all of it but I will, I promise, re-download it for FSX.. even though I only visit that sim as often as I get nose bleeds (and no.. I don't) ;-) I like the way helicopters fly in FSX (some.. but no no means all - and most of the ALL are payware!) hence a recent visit to the dark side :000: I won't be staying though it's nice to be up to date ;-)

Hey Ben,

Thanks for the comments, what was it about the A/C on deck you dont like, it would be good to have your feedback to implement changes on another RN Carrier we are working on right now.

Hope you can help.

Hi mate... its just a personal preferance thing. Bit like the statics that Gary puts on his UK2000 stuff. Some people like them, some people don't. I think with me its that it kind of dictates the era, so in the case of the Ark its the Phantom / Bucc era. I've no real knowledge of RN carrier ops either, the only book I've read was Phoenix Squadron. I got the impression (rightly or wrongly) that there would only be a hand full of A/C on the deck under normal circumstances. In bad weather they talk about having two + the helo.

Anyway, its not a critic, as I said, more personal pref. Cracking model.

Now all I need is something built at Harlands ;-) Rusty B or Eagle anyone?

Here's a thought..

Would it be possible to model statics on deck so that they appear and disappear with a command key?? I've spent a good few hours in an Alouette of late and it's pax/loads are toggled on and off with the 'L' key plus you have the bonus of being able to tweak further but this is in the VC (click on any of the 3D bods and they appear/disappear individually). It would get around the problem (if problem is the right word) of having either a 'clean' or 'populated' model loaded :)

Send me to the back of the class facing the corner if I have sinned

Its a good idea Dave if your Captain of the Ark, but no good for AI I'm afraid.

Ah crap.. I knew there'd be a fly in the ointment  You're right of course.. something I should have thought of. That's what happens when thoughts come into your head and they're off the end of your fingers before you've had a chance to weigh up the pro's and con's

8 spaced E's.. AR ;-)

I know it's possible with static scenery to, for example, have hanger doors open when you tune the radio to a certain freq. Wonder if it's possible to embed similar code in an AI model  Have to experiment tonight :cpu:

The deck park aircraft are parked based on a number of photos and videos of flying operations on board the Ark. I don't think you could actually get the whole air group in the hangar so something would always be parked on deck, a lesson learnt in WW2.
Due to the Phantomisation process, in the configuration modelled the Ark would only have carried Phantoms and Bucc S.2s, and Gannets but I didn't have a model of those, ditto the helicopters!
