PAL Argosy

Post by Garry Russell »

Not too many pics of this surface and little is known about it's use. It wasn't for long and when it does appear it's always clean so may never have seen much use

No, I've not seen that before Garry. Just looked it up on the Argosy website....
c/n: 6782. RAF reg: XP450 - Contract KD/2K/011
29th November 1962 first flight.
13th of March 1963 delivered to 267 Squadron.
1st of July 1963 transferred to 215 Squadron, named Pelias.
28th of February 1968 transfered to 70 Squadron.
At some time it transferred to 115 Squadron and during this time it went to Trials Flight at RAF Cottesmore, but I do not have details.
25th of February 1975 to 5MU.
22nd of May 1976 bought by Shackleton Aviation Services who sold it on to Philippines Air Lines to become RP-C1192.
Broken up in Manila 1983.
It was previously in the camo scheme.

Garry, I have asked around here about it, only a couple remember it nobody has a explaination why PAL had it or what it was used for.

Was toying with doing a paint for it but unfortunately it is the military version not the civil

Hi Rich

As you'll remember the odd pic turns up now and then and that's about it.

Nothing seems to have been recorded about it......well not by the public. I knew about it going out there at the time and that's it.

The fact it was with PAL being the sum total of known fact
