UK2000 VFR Airfields for FSX Vol 2 released!

Post by Tweek »

So, if you want to start recreating that little flight of the Victor, you can now do it in a proper Bruntingthorpe!

Howdy,

Do any of you have any experience using UK2000 along with Flight1 Software's "Ultimate Traffic 2" ? I very much want "proper" UK airfields, but when I read the fac on the site they mention conflicts with UT2... and even though they post a way around the issue, I'm a bit hesitant to take the plunge... any major issues, or will I end up editing files for days, instead of flying around and enjoying the scenery ?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

If you're at all curious...

I decided to take the plunge, and so far, haven't had any issues with UK2K conflicting with my UT2... and the new airfields are simply fantastic!

I've not had UT2 specific issues, but I have had horrendous framerate issues when using it with UTX Europe and some other add-on sceneries such as Alf Denham's UK Airfields.

Although they are fantastic, imho (the VFR airfields) this does make me reluctant to shell out for Vol.2 :worried:

I probably will in the end, and disable other stuff when I use the relevant airfields - I hate having to play around with add-ons/sceneries before flights, though.

I'm happy so far, and generally I don't get a framerate hit unless I try to amble around Heathrow or Gatwick, and even then it's generally playable... but I tend to hang around Naval Airfields anyway, and so there's generally nothing much to worry about regarding heavy traffic!

Even thuough this is VFR, will it work perfectly fine on IFR, but when you're low enough to see the scenery? I imagine it will, I've been considering a scenery upgrade for a while and I looked at this and also the Photo Scenery which I think is UK2000 also.
I like this flight simming, it's fun.....

Hi Ant, its really optomized for the Horizon VFR GenerationX photo scenery (which is superb) in that it lines up exactly over the photo scenery. It will work on its own too though.

You can even re-plant a lot of the autogen trees and houses (which is covered up by the photoscenery) all alligned for the Horizon VFR from this free site...

http://www.shepsshed.com/autogentrees.htm

The site also has a lot of freeware UK scenery for the Horizon packages.

Would that also work with the default scenery (well, UTX)? I understand if it did, it might end up putting trees and buildings in the middle of fields and the like, but it's sometimes a bit annoying to see buildings sitting at the end of runways that you just know aren't there! I'm guessing that this autogen is more true to life?
