Yes, I do know a couple of Piston Provost pilots personally (having sampled the delights a few times in the past) and as we speak the true identity of both the aircraft and the pilot have yet to be released. It is sad, but as nothing is known yet, its very hard to make comment as to what happened or to whom.

My thoughts are with the pilot's family.

Dear me Martin :-(

I gather the aircraft was X-XXXX (I'll pass it via PM) but know nothing of this particular aircrafts movements or area of operation/home base. The chances of you not knowing the pilot are, under the circumstances, very slim given the obvious few numbers there are.
