Windows mail
HI Guys
hoping someone can help with this:
Windows mail has suddenly started saying ''Cannot find [filename] Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again"
This happens if I receive an image in mail. If I click the paperclip (which I have always done) and select the image, I get the above message. I can save, but not view until it is saved, or I view the embedded image within the message.
Any ideas? Have not had this happen previously

Re: Windows mail
I had that once in the last week but with my Netscape mail.
I tried to open the attachment and had the message you report.

Re: Windows mail
Hi Guys
I'm on 10meg broadband. What's confusing is that I don't 'lose' the images - they can be seen if I scroll down the message, or if I save them, it's purely if I open as mentioned (or try to) Windows doesn't want to know. I'd reckon it's happened within the last three days.
It's also doing this with old mail in my archive folder, which did open as above when I got it. Now I need to 'save'.

Re: Windows mail
It sounds like its only downloading the header info. The dialer sounds like its disconnecting before its finished. What happens if you go in via webmail, are all the messages its downloaded still there?
Ben.

Re: Windows mail
Sorry jim, missed your last post. I think the emails your talking about are live mail "picture messages" they behave slightly differently to normal attachments.
Ben.

Re: Windows mail
HI Ben
My webmail will only show 'new' mail I have not accessed via POP3 (Windows mail). the server will fire out a 'new' message even if it has previously been opened in webmail. this then cleans out my webmail (Virgin Media)
The full image is actually there - it just seems to have decided not to allow access as described.
Also, as I mentioned, old emails which are on the HDD from many moons ago now exhibit the issue, so it can't be a 'download' issue (per 'new mail')

HI Ben
Sorry missed your intermediate post too
As I say, (unless something has changed) it's affecting enails in the 'style' I've always received... the real confusion is the prog not opening older attachments which it did last week for example

Re: Windows mail
Now working normally - no problems - sorted itself out, so it's down to Windows going into a tantrum I suppose
