Hunter wingtip vortices

Post by forthbridge »

HI all

Went for a spin in one of DGs Hunters just now.... I loaded up, and when the A/C was on the threshold not moving, the vortices suddenly appeared.
rebooted, and it seemed OK until I made a hard turn. Vortices appeared, and stayed (allbeit 'intermittently') even in level flight, becoming 'full' at the slightest touch of the stick. Anyone any ideas?

Hi Jim,

Is it FS9 or FSX?

In FS9 the vorticies are gauge controlled, but in 'X they are a default effect

Hi Dave,

FS9. I've not knowingly adjusted anything - and haven't had it happen before......

With the FS9 model, they should only appear if you're pulling over 2g

The gauge is an invisible gauge on the main panel, so you must view the panel at least once for it to work. If you load the aircraft while in spot view and don't switch to the panel it may not get initialised properly

Cheers Dave  I was on a tower view each time (switched quickly) so I'll make sure I go in cockpit first!

Just tried again... same result  Hopefully these screenies show it better than I explain it.... does the 'normal G' contrail even look normal?

McLeland (oops) 'pulling' G:

and two shots showing the G level in sim. Top down shot is straight and level flight

I'll take your word for it Ben - it's a while since I've ran the Hunter so I can't honestly say it did not do the same previously!
