Garry, that one from bottom pic in your link is I think the colours of the BUA VC10 we flew from Heathrow to Aden in, that was mid 66 I think, can check my little red book for actual date if required we were told it was a proving flight ??

Hi Rich

look it up by all means but that is just the standard second livery and the type had been in service for some time by then.

The puzzzle here is why G-ASIX lost the blue bullet and large jack and sported title in a different place after it had been in the standard first livery :think:

Based on all the posts so far I'm convinced the aircraft was mid-repaint when the mystery picture was taken. The red titles are gone, the black titles are in the correct position for the blue/brown scheme and the tail is painted out in white in readiness for the new stripes on the tail. It is not unusual for an aircraft to continue flying mid-repaint and it may have been taken out of the paintshop to sub for another VC10 on this flight.

Garry's earlier posts in particular ring true to me for one...
