My guess is that some-ones' got a grudge but no doubt they will cop it.

They should have to pay for it even if that means for the rest of their lives. :@

Two things jump to my mind.....

1. Someone has a grudge (as Nigel suggested) perhaps because the chopper captured evidence that was used against them.

2. This was done to disable the chopper prior to a serious crime of some sort being committed and therefore to prevent it capturing evidence or being used to follow the perps.

Whatever the reasons the perps need stringing up by their dangley bits!

Yes.. I believe they have a crew short of something to work in ;-) Pity these herberts didn't pick on something that wasn't funded by the public purse.. W***ers

Sadly it looks like I lost my job yesterday :-(
Cant say too much and cant release any pictures yet will do when I get clearance. Suffice to say the image you have doesnt take a lot to work out the extent of the damage...
We had a very busy day yesterday sorting things out and I guess it will be a couple of days before we can find out what our options are, fortunately who ever did this forgot that there are two other helicopters in the Midlands who will provide coverage for us whilst we get back on our feet. No one was injured which was a good thing.
Sorry cant say any more at the moment.

I'm speechless. It'd be bad enough to destroy someone's privately owned helicopter, but you'd have to be insane to destroy a police one. Glad to hear the residents of the West Mids have alternative cover and I hope that you get a new heli soon Tony.
