Hi Gerry,

No this one stars Bernard Lee & Peter Cushing.

Without wishing to spoil the plot -

Captain George Gort, a pilot for British Empire Airways, is found to be at fault after crashing his Phoenix 1 jetliner, killing his co-pilot, on takeoff from Ranjibad airport in Pakistan. He is accused of rotating too early, increasing drag to such an extent that the aircraft cannot achieve flying speed.

Gort is reprimanded but is allowed to return to flying..................

Cheers Paul

Sounds like some of the early Comet take off incidents before they modified the wing LE

I don't think I've ever see this one

Excellent film co-starring the Avro Tudor Jet as the Phoenix. I'm tempted to get it on DVD for five and a bit notes to complement my dvd of "The Sound Barrier".

I've only seen it the once, many years ago.

I like these old films, I find the background action at places like LHR so interesting.

That is the reason I sit though and enjoy so many old films.

I am so busy peering into the backgrounds I sometimes forget what the storyline was

What's going on in the background makes many of these old films worth looking at which is why I'm an avid ITV4 watcher  In yesterdays 'The Saint'.. Simon Templar tracks the villain down to this very plush residential hotel type place and on the desk in the foyer was a VC10 model in BOAC Golden Speedbird and behind it on the wall, a poster advertising BEA with the Vanguard tail in RS

The title of this film sounds familiar but I can't place the plot. Think I might have to flex the old plastic too
