Think it may just be the angle / lighting Garry. I'm sure I've seen that a few times, although never seen that pic. Any ideas where it might be?
I have seen that paint before --- In Flight many many years ago -- it was (I believe) something that Vickers did and BUA then repainted. Its Entebee I think -- I recognise the colour of the dirt
I wonder if that's the first one on test and then it was modified
The One-Eleven had white bullets pre delivery and the "BAC One-Eleven" on the fin changed to "One-Eleven" and the reg moved from the rear cheat to above the engines
So perhaps as you suggest it was modified before service. Possibly G-ASIX as I have a pic of 'SIW on it's first flight....supposedly .....and it is the normal blue bullet variety.

I wanted to say SIX -- but my memory isnt THAT good -- I remember seeing a shot of it in Flight International doing hot and High trials ---and it wasnt me that noticed the oddities back then - a nice chap by the name of Brian Hazell who was an engineer at LFC and then Britannia. As to guessing Entebbe -- Well as Ian will hopefully back me up - they are just crossing the equator where that shot was taken
IW definately had the blue bullet, on its maiden flight and at Farnborough in '64. The later colours in '66 had the white bullet, so I wonder if this was a hybrid stage?
