Air ambulance G-LNAA

Post by ianhind »

My local Air Ambulance (again - last posted on here about 2 years ago!)

Spotted G-LNAA flying over, slowing and descending so I went walkabout.

To set the scene, this is the location

(For more info, download http://www.btinternet.com/~calypsomedia ... /GLNAA.kmz and use it to open Google Earth)

It appears that a motorcyclist had an accident on the northbound junction of the roundabout. :-(

Two photos of G-LNAA in situ:

Departure to hospital:

And in case the gentleman in the car who was shouting "sad w@nker" as he went past is reading this, I have no photos of the injured party - just the helicopter. Anyway he was probably out with his mates to stop beating his wife.

But you're making the assumption that he actually CAN read, which seems to me unlikely !

Anyway - are we sure it hasn't just stopped for petrol ?

Cheers

You'll be pleased to know that the motorcyclist, from this crash at least, will be fine and was not seriously injured. It's been closed all evening today for another who has not been so lucky...

That particular island is (aledgedly) being turned into an overpass type junction with the widening of the A46 which should hopefully reduce accidents there.

I was dealing with a crash at Moorgreen a couple of months ago and it turned up unanounced and nearly blew me over!

I did download the plans for the A46 improvements (can't find them now) and indeed the A46 will go over the top of the existing roundabout - probably immediately above where G-LNAA was parked.

Glad that motorcyclist did ok - sad about the other one - there were a lot of bikes around on Saturday - Bank Holiday weekend.

And anyone who has driven down the A46 between Newark and Widmerpool will have noticed that work has started with trees being cut down and the route marked out. Since I live about 400 yards from that roundabout, it is going to be fun driving around there soon :-( . Fortunately my journey to work is from the dining room to the study  .

And I'm still amazed how these Air Ambulance guys arrive and assess a landing site in less than ideal locations - some of you may remember the last time I videoed G-LNAA - 400 yards from this time and 50 yards from where I live.
