Speedbird in a Budgie?!

Post by speedbird591 »

Surely not, I hear you splutter. But it's true! I wanted something a little more sedate for exploring Glacier Bay and there's a nice Air North Yukon livery for it. Would you believe that I'd never flown the 748 because I'd had bad experiences in other propliners. But this is amazing, isn't it? I love this livery, too, so I've downloaded the FreeFlow Bahamas scenery for it. And here we jolly well ...

Apologies to Rick for not trying it before and a barrelful of thanks. :$ It screws up my top ten favourite aircraft as it comes in somewhere in the top 3

Yes, the 748 is rather nice eh Ian?

Perfect for exploring GBV2 also. That Freeflow looks good - would I be correct in assuming it's the same stable as the Bermuda scenery?

Another convert! Rick's 748 is my absolute favourite aeroplane in FS. Other than for looooong distance stuff, it's my weapon of choice. Works a treat in FSX as well.

Hi Jim. Correct. It's at Avsim, file name: ffbav1.0.zip. It's the same excellent quality as Bermuda with a nice simple installer for the lazy. Nothing else to add as you'll already have the trees file if you have Bermuda. It's actually a bigger project than Bermuda as there are a lot more islands and a lot more destinations within easy flying. I love Bermuda, but unless you've got a lot of spare time there's nowhere else to fly! The Bahamas are only a short hop from Florida and from the Caribbean proper. There are two international airports. The Budgie one is Nassau and this is Grand Bahama (Freeport). My transport today is Hama's Greyhound Bus as Peter seems to be hogging the ambulance lately ;-)

I've flown into both in 707s during my time with BOAC/BA. The main thing I remember about the Bahamas is how flat it is (they are?). The next thing is how American it is. The US dollar is interchangeable with Bahamian dollars (as is Bermuda) and there are dozens of golf courses - and casinos of course. James Bond country! The natives are surly and the prices are extortionate. None of which affects us in our virtual world. Just don't go there!

The scenery includes dozens of strips, some with buildings, and beaches with hotels, sunshades, cruise ships, yachts etc. etc. etc.

EDIT: If you're installing FF Bahamas, you might as well install this extra which adds some more scenery and improves frame rates: cjcr07b.zip

Well well well!!.....Could this be the start of Speedbirds' association with prop classics such as the Vanguard and Viscount? :welldone:

Steady on, Nigel! I refer you to the trouble that Mr BAW9DV has had trying to get a Viscount across the Irish Sea! I think it very unlikely that I'll be attempting to start one of them any time soon!

You wouldn't happen to know if they were painted by that chap who lives on a remote island in the English Channel, would you? Some of his paints are quite passable ...
