Does anybody know of any modern day RAF templates for flight sim containing insignia and so.

crown copyright prevents you from using such things in repaints.

Surely only if they're from Crown sources, simmerspaintshop.com has a range of marking templates.

you would think so, but if you study the Crown Copyright, it forbids the use of all Crown markings without permission. Obviously, no one really cares in a freeware world, but when you start charging, it is a different matter.
