Hi,
From the horses mouth so to speak, me.
Myself and 2 other scenery designers had simply decided to leave and try something a little different under our own steam, 2 of us had been at ukmil for 2 year and felt it was time to leave ukmil which (as far as the scenery section goes) was still in good hands with the remaining 3 designer, Keith (Cranwell), Phil (honnington) and Paul (who was in the process of Akrotiri).
After much umming and aring on my part (3 weeks to be exact) I decide yes it times to go, we written a lengthy announcement which can be seen on the UKAR forum, but even before we got change to see any replies the site was shut down without so much as a thank you from the web owner for the 2 years in time and thousands of hours we put into the site. It seems even when you leave on good terms its still not good enough?
As I said on other forums we refute 100% the rumour it was closed because we left, that the proverbial dog's. Just seems to be the easiest people to blame. As far as we where concerned UKMIL was far strong enough to keep going with only 3 of the 12 staff leaving.
As a scenery developer there I know I never had any bitchy people at ukmil, ukmilers where on the whole a very nice bunch of people who give us scenery designers nothing but praise, those who did give constructive criticism, there comments where taken on board and dealt with accordingly, not that there was many.
The current message on ukmil shows me that there is only one person with problems on the site and unfortunately I feel he's jumped before he's thought about the consequences. Very selfish?
I feel for all ukmil members and club members. Fortuanalty we where not linked with any other part of ukmil except the scenery part.
I'm glad to be out of there to be honest, true colours shine though eventually...its a really sad end to a good website.
On a more positive note our scenery development will continue but else where so all is not lost
Stevo
