It is indeed the Skye bridge and it is clearly visible from Broadford Airport so I thought it might be nice t have it

I know it was a bit controversial over there but I find it rather attractive , and it does not detract from the local

scenery.

I don't think many people found it unattractive, it was just the fact you had to pay several pounds just to go one way. Same price as the ferry. Also the way the opinion was allegedly rigged on getting it built.

Simon Ive basically scrapped my first effort and using all the information gathered for it - Plus a little learned wisdom
and insight from helping Dave Moly with Oban and Rearsby - Im ready to go at it again.

Also going to add the "Wee Kirk in the heather" at the end of the runway

Having made both journeys, the bridge on the way there and the ferry on the way back, the ferry is infinately more fun, if only for the drive to the mooring which is hairy to say the least. Of course since the SNP, my understanding is the bridge is now free. :000:

Yes it is free. My parents lived on Skye and I used to go three or four times a year. I quite often used to see people arrive at the bridge and look at the.

When talking about the ferry do you mean the old Kyle of Localsh Ferry which no longer exists or the still running Kylerhea-Glenelg ferry which still runs. it is worth taking just for the experience of that tide rip. Sit in the car and watch it go sideways. Great fun.

It was some time ago, it departed from a small landing just south of the bridge, a funny wee thing that could only take have a dozen (or maybe it was just 4) cars on this platform that rotated so that you could get off at the other side.

In the old old days it was a rotating platform ferry that could take12 or so cars. These were replaced in the 70's with drive on drive off that could take cars lorries and buses.The Glenelg ferry is still a rotating platform that takes 4-6 cars at a squeeze.
