From the VTTS site:

This funding will allow the project to pay its monthly expenses, clear debt and provide a stable financial footing for the future.

Not clear as to whether that means it will actually fly (at least very much flying) but certainly the organisation would stay afloat, the engineers still be employed and so the ground maintenance would continue. So another stepping stone at least up to first flight of this season.

Well guys, apparently they only need to get up to £850K (at least) by 6pm Friday

Without wanting to sound negative on this subject but if they do get what they want, how long will this amount last until they run out of money again? I think this is going to go round forever in circles.......

I think in the end the poor old girl will eventually be grounded for good due to the present 'economic climate', it could not have happened at such a worst time. :-(

...and as it looks like 558 will fly again this year (fantastic news!), please spare a thought for another classic bomber which needs expensive repairs in order to keep on flying. I'm talking about C-GVRA, the only other flyable Lancaster, which is based in Ontario, Canada. While they only need about a tenth of what the Vulcan will cost to run, it's still a fair amount of money to find. If anyone can help, please see http://www.warplane.com

Oh, yes. It's also the Centennial of Flight in Canada this year (what took them so long to catch up? )
