All excellent, but it's the first shot that hits the spot for me.
Thanks for the links.

Yes Dave, its a strange one, it almost looks like the rudder is moving away from the tail  Still a great shot though
Ben.

Re: Brilliant VC10's on A.net
On the Farnborough picture, I think the gap between fin and rudder has been taped over . IIRC there was trouble at the start with Dutch Roll , and I wonder if this was something to do with trials to deal with that. Again IIRC , eventually it could not be cured and required the permanent yaw damper
Re: Brilliant VC10's on A.net
I'd guess they would have done the Dutch roll testing on G-ARTA, not ASGA
Looks to me as if something is wrong with the image file. the shed to the right of the rudder looks a bit off too.
Great photos though!

Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

Re: Brilliant VC10's on A.net
Strange one, I'd have thought any dutch roll would have been sorted on G-ARTA. Only thing I can think is something to do with the additional fuel tanks, the SVC10 had fuel tanks added to the fin.

Clearly something wrong with that photo - our very own archivist has some probably more authentic photos:

Hi Ian, Thats an earlier picture (she has the orange door in that one) and you can't see if the rudder is deflected as its side on .....
Ben.

Ben
They are both supposed to be at Farnborough 1964
- and look at the previous one in Pete's collection - a not dissimilar view with the Lightning's in the background.
