How does it handle on the ground?
I have recently downloaded PAD's Dornier and couldn't control it at all ...

Best,

Nick
Seems OK, not noticed any real problems, but was literally one circuit at Sydenham.

Downloaded too & quick hop from Guernsey to Jersey (having done it in the real thing). Flew quite nicely although while testing autopilot it ceased working halfway over. Have to agree with Ben that some aspects of the FD seem a bit too responsive and ground handling is interesting again, a gentle nudge and you could be going in circles! As usual practice will / maybe make perfect.

This is just what I've experienced with the Dornier. It accelerates up to 60knots when taxying to the runway - at idle thrust! You'll need to do constant emergency braking to keep it at a reasonable taxi speed. And - as you say - don't dare to turn: I just keeled over and had to start again. If practice can ever make up to that? :dunno:

It's a pity - as PAD's external models are a real beauty!

Cheers,

Nick

Hi guys, I was invited to join in this discussion by Ben Hartmann and would just like to say thanks for the (mainly) positive comments about our S360. We don't presume to put our models in the same ranking as the work of the illustrious designers who inhabit these pages but we hope you enjoy them for what they are.
We are currently working on the S330 and the Sherpa. We thought at first these would be a quick conversions from the S360 but they have turned out to be almost 'from the ground up' re-designs.
I'm surprised about some of the comments re ground handling, in my tests, and during my 'just for fun' flights, she always behaves like a perfect lady on the ground. Maybe I drive slower ! One thing that everybody seems to have missed, including us until last week when we were working on the S330, is the reversed nosewheel retraction ( it should fold back, not forward :$ ). There is now a fix for this on our web site and future versions and PAD repaints will have this corrected.
Keep up the good work cbfsim !

Hi Bob,
Welcome aboard! As a local lad who remembers the prototypes wizzing over my bedroom when I was a kid, I'm always delighted to see anything Shorts, and the 360 is lovely. Please don't take the coments re the FDE as negative, the FDE is always the hardest part to get right. I know John (RAF_Quantum) and I have had some discussion around this and once I get a chance we could show you what we've been thinking in some of the areas.

Great work, and can't wait for the 330 and Sherpa.

And who realised that the Sherpa was based on the 360 rather than on the visually similar 330?

Not me, for sure - thanks to Motormouse for that enlightenment on the SimOuthouse forum.
