I love the HS 748. Probably my favourite aeroplane in FS. And with so many liveries available as standard, it can be flown realistically almost all over the world.
One thing though, in FSX when I turn on any lights at all (strobe, nav, landing etc) there are some textures in the VC that start shimmering and looking a tad strange. Not so bad it's unuseable, but annoying. The most noticeable is around the coaming, and behind the fire panel (also contains the LP fuel switches) where as soon as the lights are on texture corners appear above the curved coaming edge.
As I said, annoying, but not too bad.
Just wondering if there's a standard fix for this problem. I saw it also on the CLS A340-500/600 but that was fixed by a patch somehow.
Anyone else know about this?

This is an "FSX-SP2" induced problem. As I understand it, this has to do with the way untextured parts are rendered in FSX-SP2
versus all prior FS versions.
I recall that I had to 'paint over' some of the all black areas on some cockpit textures to remove the 'reflective' nature when
any light was turned on. Also, in the panel.cfg file I found that changing some of the "Background_color=0,0,0" statements
to "Background_color=10,10,10" reduced some of the problems. FSX-SP2 treats "black 0,0,0" differently...making parts
with that 'color' reflective now instead of transparent as was the prior case.
I've since converted all my aircraft textures to dds from bmp so I can't really tell you which ones I needed to modify.
It was a trail & error experience in any case.

Thanks for that, I'll give those suggestions a whirl this evening. I like the idea of bmp-dds conversion too. Aren't dds files a tad easier on framerates than bmp files? At least in FSX/SP1/Acceleration which is my current setup.

Re: HS 748 in FSX lights problem
DOH! Neither of those worked I'm afraid. In fact, changing the "Background_color=0,0,0" statements to 10,10,10 just made it worse.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
