Sonething Old, Old Something new

At The Pond :) (Shameless Plug)

Bjorn Buchner graciously allowed us to republish his Auster V - Its Fs9 only, and a little long in the tooth
but great fun to fly, Plus Peter Watkins has released a package of five civilian repaints for it, and Peter Forster
(northernknight) has put together an AI package for Dave Molyneaux's Rearsby scenery, which will populate the field
with Austers (albeit all MkVs) even having one doing lazy circuits every afternoon. I will publish the AI files tomorrow
(Sunday my time) for those who like to sit in the grass and watch Austers do touch and go's. You supply your own
aroma of cut grass, occasional buzzing insect and that faraway sound of cows in teh next field.

Over to you

Spooky Leif - I was watching this earlier.

Gorgeous stuff

I think I can say without fear of contradiction that the sound of Gypsy's and Cirrus's (Cirri??)
will be heard again at the Rearsby factory :):):).

Actually the Cirrus was there about thirty minutes ago, I was testing Peters AI traffic
using the DH60

God!!! Its a dirty job , but someone has to do it! :)

That short clip reminded me of the reason I fell out with DDVideo - :@

If I want to listen to music HiFi or whatever - If I am watching aircraft, engine sounds or related only, but NEVER the twain.

Many thanks for the HU Leif.

Its my pleasure Graham.

Its fun to see people enjoying themselves - There were so many very talented peoples working in the scenery and repaints , I feel a bit embarassed
all I did was put the AFCAD together and did some trawling , Bjorn's Auster is accurate and pleasent to fly , Peter Watkins did some excellent
paints for it , he seems to have a knack of finding the obscure and attractive - I had forgotten about G-ALFA in its pea green paint. David Molyneaux
is a master at making buildings on demand in a very short time. When we working on the Rearsby scenery I said (half jokingly) you know it would be
nice to have some bike sheds - you know the old ones with the curved corrugated roofs - and presto they appeared on the field. If anyone has
Lens Ez-Scenery you will see my scenic contributions - a bunch of oil drums around the side of the hangar and crates and pallets dotted about.
Dave created the Queen mary from photo's he took of one a while back - and there are air raid shelters dotted around - my other contribution
was the herd of cows in the field at the end of the runway (UKVFR scenery libraries) Then to cap things off Peter Forster has worked very hard to
create AI track and stationary aircraft to bring the place to life.

Again - sorry shameless plug

Thanks Leif, really looking forward to flying this one.

Flew the Auster many times as P2 practising my landings and flying cross country.

Regards
Nigel.

Bjorn's Auster Mk.5 has always been close to the front of my virtual hangar, but in real life its one of the few Auster variants, I havent sampled. Today, as it was so nice (well better than its been for a long time), I had a flight in an Auster AOP.9. Not quite the same, but still an Auster.

When I was a little lad (sometime ago), I always wanted to sample the delights of this somewhat forgotten British aeroplane and it was only about seven years ago that it happened for the first time. But my introduction was a Beagle Terrier (I didnt think it was a true Auster - but was told by its owner that it was!) and was somewhat upset by the idea that it seemed to be controlled by the rudder and not the stick. Having only really flown Cessna 150s in the past, it was I thought rather difficult. Next out the hangar was a Autocrat and then another Terrier and by the time I had to go home, I was hooked.

The Auster is an aeroplane with a lot of character and I know at times is often overlooked by Miles and de Havilland, but it remains an important member of our British aviation heritage.

I look forward to flying Bjorn's Auster for a long, long time to come.

Best wishes,

Martin
