A friend of mine has just rung up with the following question:
"My computer keeps telling me that my maibox is full. I don't know why because after I have read an email I normally delete it. Can you please tell me how to cure the problem?"
Now I know nothing about computers so I could not help but do any forum members know how to solve the problem?

Re: Mailbox full?
I shall have a word tomorrow with the lady with this mailbox problem.
Re: Mailbox full?
When you delete an e-mail you MOVE it to the "Deleted" folder. Many mailboxes are setup so that when you exit the Deleted folder is emptied, however, some options do not empty the deleted folder they remain here until you manually empty it. These 'deleted' files count towards your Mailbox limit.
Check your deleted folder and see if it's full of the junk you thought you'd got rid of, whereas you may merely have put it out of sight!!

Jim

Re: Mailbox full?
I had a friend with this problem, using that virus called AOL.
He had his system set up to leave a copy on the server, hence mail box on ISP became full and they very kindly offered to "sell" him some more space. It was a hell pf a job to navigate to the ISP mail box, then alter it to delete each mail after download, and the problem went away.
Hope this makes sense, very |-)

Re: Mailbox full?
Thanks to all who have replied - I must say that it is not my own mailbox that is full but it is a distraught lady in distress living a mile away. I shall now telephone her so that she may try out the above proposals. Will keep you all posted on developments.
Re: Mailbox full?
I received a 'phone call this morning from my friend's wife. She followed all the advice offered by forum members and is a customer of Tiscali. Having carried out the first two deletions she managed to find her way successfully through to her ISP email 'deleted' box, having emptied that box she was surprised to find that those emails had been transferred to a second ISP 'deleted' box, there she found all the emails sent to her during the last 12 months!!!! Once those had been deleted she sensibly sent herself a test email message to prove her email system was once again working. That email arrived safely so all is now operating as it should.
She offers thanks to all who helped solve that problem.
