removing mips in FSX

Post by tinkicker »

Hello everyone im new here and new to FSX. I have Dm's Aircraft running a dream in FSX and sorted the mip problem with his AC using the texture mod thingy he included. but i want to remove the mips from the default AC in FSX.

Any help would be gratefully received

Hi Mate,

DM includes a little tool for removing MIPS in each of his aircraft folders. In each aircraft folder you'll find a file called texture converter.bat. If you run this in each of his folders in turn and select 32bit no mips (Option 5), this will call the imagetool program and fix your textures. It make a hell of a difference ;-)

Do you have FSX delux? (i.e. the one with the SDK?) If so it contains the little exe file that does the conversions for you, no need for anything as drastic as photoshop mate :dancer:

Hi mate, its imagetool.exe, in the Terrain SDK folder. (same as the one included with DM's models, only the newer version) Read the SDK manual about imagetool, or run it from the command prompt with the /? switch to get the list of options. I'll post more info when I'm finished work.

Be careful that you use the right ImageTool...There is one for FSX and one for FS9 :flying:
