Up to you mate.....
Tony,
I would be delighted to see your work...Please download it here:-
Forgive my big mouth but you all know me well enough by now I prefer the original
Now.. had I NOT seen the original.. the retouch would've been great.. if that's any consolation Very few bits make the original look out of place in that shot.. in fact, about the only thing that makes it a possible 'forgery' is the pilots head/bonedome. The retouch looks like it's been put there.. if you get my drift (pun intended)
Mind.. I DO wear glasses at the pc so be gentle with me ;-)
There is more to it than meets the eye...I have printed out both, using a Colour Laser printer and there are interesting things to see, away from the obvious.
The colour balance has changed and the vingetting at the corners has been removed...I definitely prefer these two aspects.
On the aircraft itself the canopy shines have had the effect of visually changing the shape of the canopy and obscuring the front windscreen frame...The illusion tends to widen the front screen to almost make it look like the two-seater's screen...This bit I don't like so much.
The heat haze effect behind the jet pipe is all very nice but I think I prefer to see the terrain detail in that area.
The removal of the pixel jaggies around the outside lines of the aircraft by blurring is I suppose the only way it can be done...I'm not sure which I prefer, jaggies or blur, but I have a feeling that the 3D effect that someone mentioned is diminished by the blur.
A couple of speckles in the sky (dust specks on the transparency) have been removed...Thank you.
All in all, I find it very hard to choose between the two shots...So I'm not going to choose...I'm going to use them both. My work will go in "Portrait" on the front cover sheet with the large font title of the booklet under it "208 Squadron in Kenya". Since this picture will be across the width of the paper it will be somewhat reduced in size. Tony's work will go on the back of the last page of the book in "Landscape", thus occupying the larger length of the paper with just the small font text under it, giving the attribution to Tony. This last face is protected by a nice "Leather" textured hard card cover and the frontispiece is protected by a transparent stiff plastic sheet, the whole thing being "Comb Bound".
I can see that a lot of fiddly work has gone into this Tony and I would like to thank you very much :flying:
I'm with Dave on this though I thought it best not to say anything and mind my own business.
but now since Dave has given his opinion ......I much prefer the original, the camoflage on the Hunters' were always a dull matt colour and that's the way I prefer it.
Regards
Nigel.
