We had landed at Wolverhampton Airport Monday and at about midday I heard a lovely sound, looked up and saw these two going over in formation at I would guess 8,000ft VC10's but I think one was a super as it seems larger ?
Nikon DX2 with 80mm lens, if I had the larger I guess I would have got a better shot..

Your story reminds me of an occasion the summer before last (2nd Aug '07) when I was descending Hambledon Hill here in Dorset. Like you, I heard a beautiful sound looked up and saw two VC-10s in formation. I was quick with the camera, although they were belting along...! Not such a great shot as yours but I hope you don't mind me sharing. At the time I was using a Lumix FZ-3 (now use a FZ-28).

I must admit we were lucky, we had landed at Halfpenny Green to liase with CCAOU about some work stuff and I had the works camera in my hand when I heard it go over, it was a shame I did not have the longer lens on but it worked ok on the small lens, I must say I find the Nikon DX2 a bit daunting its heavy and has far too many buttons for my liking...I set it to auto and let the bloody thing decide what it wants to do However it may well be replaced by newer and no doubt dearer version...
I like my Fuji S9600.. thats complex enough for me
