A bugette - FSA Penalties

Post by TSR2 »

Just been taking the Argosy on the next stage of its delivery flight. Landing lights were definately off and then I got a penalty for Lights on above 10000. It seems if you go and view another aircraft while on AP (I was having a look at a comet that was lining up on a nearby runway) and it has its lights on etc, the FSA client gets muddled up between the aircraft your viewing and the one your flying. So be careful when taking in the scenery! ;-)

EDIT to my earlier post... I'm still getting the penalty in the Argosy and the lights are most definately off. Has anyone else seen this with this aircraft? :dunno:

Hi Ben..

I HAVE fallen foul of the Argosy once.. mainly because the switch position can be confusing if you're not used to it. Just in case.. the switch has to be in the CENTRAL position. Down is LL on.. UP is Taxi lamps on.. Centre is both off.. or thereabouts, it's been a month or so since I ventured up in one ;-)

The 'swapping' aircraft thing is interesting though. I've not seen this reported anywhere before

Hi Dave,

Both the light switches and the extend / retract are in the central position, strange one. The sswapping aircraft thing might have been a red herring as its now happened without swapping aircraft.

Have to admit I'm a bit worried about this leg, 2500+ miles and a full tank, but to be honest If I make it, it will be on fumes.

Hello Mate

I didn't mean my last comment to sound like you didn't know wtf you were doing which I think it does a bit so sorry for that ;-) The problem with the Argosy light switches is that they can be confused.. and easily too. You'll note PLUS and MINUS mouse click areas. If you don't hit them bang on.. the lamps will actually come on but the switch remain in the same place. Likewise.. if you have the LL on (switch down) and you click on the 'MINUS' area of the switch.. the lamp will go off but the switch will still be down.. thus throwing them out of sync :o I started going outside for a look.. just to make sure but in daylight, it's not easy to zoom into the LL area to see if the filament is on unless you're in the air and you get under the wing. To get around this.. I fitted a small LL lamp on the main panel which illuminates when the lamps are ON regardless of the switch position. It's got me out of trouble on more than one occassion. I'll send you the light and relevant line for your panel.cfg if you like :) It should still be on my webspace as I'm sure I sent it to one of the other pilots suffering a similar problem ;-)

EDIT.. found it Ben. Get the light gauge and cfg entry HERE . If any others have had similar problems with LLamps on the Argosy, you might want to try this too ;-)

I noticed an Argosy at LFPG (bound for pastures far) when I picked up the other new T3 a couple of days ago and thought.. shall I or shalln't I  I've resisted for the time being but it MAY be futile :worried:

BTW.. that CPT lamp can be used to turn the LL's on or off too (it has mouse click areas) though I only ever use it to confirm the lights are on or off. ;-)
