ACE Connie - Heads Up!

Post by PeterLumsden »

Hi,

Have been reading forum for ages and huge fan of the work and support here. I have just noticed and ACE Freighter Connie repaint of the FSDZigns model on Avsim. Looks good!

Keep up the brilliant work! :tonqe:

Thanks for the HU Peter

Unfortunatley the model is an 049 a very different aircraft visually to a 749

The painter has also failed to block out the alpha over the markings :-( ..shame

Acknowledged that this isn't a real 749 but it is better than a poke in the eye while we wait patiently for somebody to model a real one. What is a real bonus is that although this chap is not a modeller he has put a lot of work into creating new FDEs appropriate for the L749, which means these can also be applied to previous L749 repaints of the L049 - I already have these for Avianca, 2 x Copisa, 2 x KLM and a Qantas, and there may be others.

As for the alpha issue - the painter is active on the California Classic forum and I'm sure will happily fix this if you give him the tip. There is a long thread on there since he started the project.

For me it is a real treat to "fly" ALAL again - I used to have a FS98 model of it which wasn't too bad (after FDE tweaks) in FS2002 and even 2004 if you didn't look at it too closely, but obviously time marches on and I didn't bother with it as it was so basic. My notes show that I last flew it in 7/7/04 . . . what a sad git I am keeping records! This one is just bliss by comparison.

G-ALAL is the only Connie I saw in service

Ever since the Connie came out I've wanted to paint this aircraft but haven't because an 049 model is so wrong

Ah! Comprende ! :bandit:

Sorry for misunderstanding....

In my Connie book the L-049 is the most gracious looking of the whole branch. I believe nobody could've done a better job on an FS L-049 model than John Howard White did. It was his first FS model too... So sad it turned out to be his only one...

If you're looking for L-749 to repaint, Francisco Sánchez-Castañer's ( he might be from Barcelona too :) ) interpretation is not bad at all :
