The library at Tangmere is being completely refurbished and all sorts of long-forgotten things are appearing from the backs of dusty old cupboards and shelves.
I thought this photo of a bygone age of air travel might be of interest. Would anyone like to hazard a guess at where and when it was taken? (I know the answer to where but not when.)
TBH the terminal looks like Shoreham and although it did have major carriers operating there spilling over form Croydon..was it big enough for Lancastrains??
Maybe the Sun's getting to me 'ead....hang on there is not Sun

Hurn was sort of BOAC Southampton for landplanes as the Flying boats were in Sou and Poole making that a big BOAC area..............amazing how things shift.

Hmm.. with BEA at Northolt, BOAC sort of used Hurn until London Airport was finished.. pax being bused out to Bournemouth (unreal or what). Their long range services operated out of there.. primarily by Lancastrians and then by Yorks. It doesn't look like I imagine Hurn to have looked like but it certainly fits the aircraft of the day ;-)
