Hi Garry

The illustration you pointed to does give a good view of the flaps and their area relative to the wing - pretty large but most forum users would be surprised if they saw a photo of a Sea Hawk showing flaps and dive brakes fully extended - one might wonder how the acft managed to stay in the air with 'all down.' Just looks as though the wings have grown several barn doors (small barns) on upper and especially lower wing surfaces.

That always surpised me with the Comet :o

Full flaps head on shot and there are these enormous plates hanging verticle.......it just looks so wrong. :lol: :lol:

But of course the flap technology then was failrly simple and the new faster types made the best of all they knew before the sophisticated set ups we know now started to develope.

Sort of cleaned up prop airframe technology with a jet engine in those days.

Also surprising are the flaps of the Comet/Nimrod and the VC10 when fully extended. Tonks might care to confirm that the bank angle of the VC10 at very low heights (near the runway threshold or any ground or obstacle) must be limited to avoid damage to a fully extended set of VC10 flaps. Definitely no very sharp turns near solid objects and watch out for the appoach lighting and supports and sudden gusts lifting one wing and therefore dropping the other with full flaps down.

This is very well portrayed on current FS9 models of the Comet and VC10.

OK chaps, after a lot of hard work, frustration and ultimately several PMs to Dave G (cheers for the help there Dave), I have fashioned a somewhat working VC for the Sea Hawk. This completes modelling for the project, and I will now knock out the other variants, barring the FGA.101 which needs its own VC, over the next few days. That means I should be aiming for general release by next weekend, all going to plan. This is all subject to the needs of my son, Beeny Mk.II, who was born on the 24th and me getting some |-) where I can!

Here are a few pics of the VC in action on the FGA.6 - not perfect by any means, but hopefully make Trev happy ;-) By the way, the GGS does retract in and down when the gear is lowered, giving pilots an improved view over the nose on approach. :thumbsup:

Mk2 sounds so pedestrian though I would have thought you would have Sydney in his name ;)
