The Whispering (Whimpering?) Giant was far noisier inside that out, I think that it would be very difficult to get a good external sound on take-off. But as you say, it was a lovely sound.

you should have flown in them with nothing but AlClad in the cabin - no insulation nothing -- which might explain why my high end hearing has gone (Four years flying between four Proteus (Protei?)

Navigator! We were lucky if we 'ad a Loadmaster who'd been there before. An' it were too dark to see the snow.

Hi folks,
Re Bristol Britannia,
I flew these in the 1960's with the RAF. I note that Chris and Gary both are looking for proteus sounds for the Britannia. Try Surclaro.com file britsnd.zip. I agree that the princess is a different sound as the intakes are configured differently.
I have also lost my flt sim version after a computer crash so if anyone has a copy of Mike Stones model I would appreciate them sharing it with me.

Hello Melicomb

Welcome to the forum

thabnks for your reply

The britsnd.zip is by own own team member Fraser Mackay and is the one in use with my Britannia at the moment

There are packages availiable with the Britannia model with that sound and upgraded panel etc....not sure if it's on this site but is on the eiether Avsim of FS.com I don't remember which

The Princess would sound nothing like the Brit not so much the intakes but the contra-props which give all aircraft fitted thus a very diffrent sound

Hi there,

You can find Mike Stone's original file at flightsim.com, filename: sbritann.zip.

Best wishes,

John
