Okay, I've saved up enough pennies again and am about to purchase something I've had my eye on for a while from a certain member of this community, the IRIS PC-9, when I suddenly spot the T-6 Texan II.
Now I'm really kerfuddled! Which one to get - I can only afford one for now.
So, anyone any recommendations? They seem pretty similar, so it's probably down to the flying/VC.
I do already have an excellent freeware PC-7, so I'm tending towards T-6, but I just can't make my mind up...

Re: Purchase advice requested
From what I have read, the PC9 has flight dynamics by a certain 'Mr R Piper' that combined with the fact it is a later model (and more widely used airframe) would make me go for the Pilatus.

Re: Purchase advice requested
Well I can't vouch for the PC-9, but I have the T6 Texan II, Its a very nice plane to fly, looks nice and is quite fun, good soundset et al.
Dont know how it handles compared to the real thing, as Im not a pilot, but it seems ok. Good for whizzing about the Hills in VFR Scenery low-down.
Also good for aerobatics.

Thanx for the input.
That's typical, though - 2 guys offering opinions and each is opposing.
Okay - my PC-7 is the one by Tom Piglet (it's FS9, but a couple of minor tweaks make it FSX SP2 compatible) so as I said - it's very good. So I'm gonna go with the Texan for now - I've also been reading up on the online guide, too, and it looks like something fun to play around with in the cockpit, and keep the PC-9 on my list for future acquisition.
Up up and away to IRIS....
I'll let you know what I think tomorrow ;-)

Re: Purchase advice requested
I nearly didn't buy it (at FlightSim Store, which I thought was FlightSim Shop...) - I really dislike having to give all my personal details to buy a download.
I mean, how many high street shops do you go into that insist you give all your personal details before you can buy something? They would very soon go out of business, I think.
I 'm registered with Paypal and use them for nearly all my online purchases - if any vendor needs to contact me for legal reasons - paypal have all my details.
I'm fed up with giving them out to people without knowing if my details are safe, being sold, whatever. I have often decided not to buy stuff at particular online stores for this reason.
Anyway, I splashed out and bought both. No time to test fly today, though.

I had time to test fly them today, though!
Well, Dave, I must congratulate you on a fantastic pair of aircraft here. They are really great. The PC-9 is fun - especially the nice VC - and even though my first flight ended before the end of the runway as my engine expired in a cloud of smoke and fire, I already realised that I'll be putting in a vast amount of hours with this plane.
As for the T-6, well, it's a PC-9 on steroids!
Money well spent - and it's not often I say that!

Hi John, Glad your enjoying the PC-9 and T-6 as they are brillient aircraft modeled! See you found the over stress feature of the engine, good advise with both products is to read the manual as they are Pro series of the product line at IRIS, so are hugely realistic!

Probably way too late now but Piglet made a full FSX version of the PC-7 last year and I had it for quite a while until I did a full reinstall of FSX and never got around to putting it back on. I even banged out a few repaints for it (one of which has had more than 100 downloads :o ). It (and my repaints) can be found in the SOH downloads section.J0hn wrote:Okay - my PC-7 is the one by Tom Piglet (it's FS9, but a couple of minor tweaks make it FSX SP2 compatible) so as I said - it's very good.

Yes, I got the FSX updated version - however, I had some issues with it - can't remember everything, but I did have to change the canopy glass textures as they were solid black in SP2.
I had some sound issues when online with the FS9 one, but haven't had any since the update. In fact, I also completely lost control of it at Biggin Hill on VATSIM, too. That was embarassing - you know, "the plane didn't respond to my control inputs" and the ATC guy is, like "yeah.... if you say so...."
