Captainsim C-130 Problems

Post by Vulcan_to_the_Sky! »

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place for this? (Mods feel free to move if needed), and I apologise in advance if this has been covered before.

I have enjoyed flying the C-130E by Captainsim for quite a while now, and got an email from captainsim advertising the C-130J for a fiver. Great I thought, so I got it. However while the C-130J works and looks fine, if I try to load up my C-130E I get this! In case you can't see, Im invariably missing either wheels and props, or both and the scenery doesn't load properly either. Could this be down to my cruddy graphics?, or is there a captainsim fix somewhere. It does not happen with any other plane I have installed.

Thanks in advance

James.

P.S I have already looked on the CS website but can't find anything except that it happens to "pirate" copies, but both versions I have legally paid for and have the order numbers for.

Thanks for the help so far.

Techy I think I will try that. Just to see what happens though I have uninstalled them both and will re-install one after t'other. It got even stranger the other day, I loaded up flightsim thinking "ok, C-130E doesn't work but the J does so I'll just fly that". No chance, it had disappeared from my aircraft list, but I hadnn't un-installed it.

I rather suspect Vista might be causing some of the problems?

Hi James.
You dont say which version of FSim you are using, This pic looks like the effect you get when loading an FSX aircraft into fs9.
I had the same problem when i loaded the extra pack they did, supposedly for FS9,but i think some where hastily modified from FSX,as they do the props and u/c in a diferent way.
I got round my problem,by going back by using system restore, then i renamed the fs9 files, for the models and panels, and making a note of the change, then reloaded the extrapack, then renamed the extra pack models and panel files, then changed the original aircraft and panel files back to the original names, then changed the extrapack model and panel files in the aircraft config file to match the new names.
NOTE:-THIS WORKED FOR THE FS9 EXTRA PACK ONLY,please make sure YOU HAVE THE RIGHT VERSION for your sim first,as the J model was done for FS9,and then a reworked one was done for FSX.
Regards alan.

Sorry Allen I forgot to mention, when that was taken I was on FS9. I've just attempted to cross to the dark side, I will miss the Sabre but the VFR looks sooo much nicer!

The strange thing is, for a day or two it was all working perfectly, now, no matter what I do, it STILL wont work. IT was the FS9 Installer of the FS9 page of Captainsim products installed into a system that had the FS9 Version of the C-130E installed, so Im still not sure whats causing it?

Hi James.
If it worked ok when you first installed it,then try a system restore to that date,if it`s still the same, then you might need a re-install,as the effect you are haveing,is exactly what i had with the extra pack, which had some FSX models hastily converted to FS9,FSX models treats props and u/c in a different way apparently.
Regards alan.

Well if I revert back to FS9 at some point in the future I will have another go at trying to get it to work, Thanks for the help though.
