FSX Venom?

Post by ColoFalcon »

Hi all--

Is anyone aware of a single seat DH Venom (FB4 would be great) that is out there currently or in development for FSX? Just wondered, because I can't find one. The only one I remember is a project that Rick Piper was working on a few years ago for Air Atlantique, and that I was regularly salivating over...but that was for FS9, and was never released to my knowledge.

Any info would be eagerly appreciated!

Cheers,

Kent

Rick's Venom was flyable in FSX (pre SP2), a group of us tried an early beta in MP mode late last year. However, I would guess that a native FSX version is some way off. Hopefully Rick can give you some more info, but I would guess it is some way off completion, to say the least.

Thanks, Calypsos....

I'd just love to have an FSX-compatible (doesn't have to be FSX-pure) version (with a clean config and a version with aux tanks)...and a good paintkit. I'm less wrapped around the axle on VCs than most...I just LOVE that airplane-- it screams to be painted in a bunch of colors. I love it's elegance (and that of the Vampire as well).

Any more info on Rick's Venom? Is there anywhere I can get my hands on it?

The copy I had was a very early beta that we were using to test the better MP functions of FSX, it was not (and may well never be) released for public consumption.

I suggest if you guys really want a Venom, why not have a go at making one? All our developers had to start somewhere!

Well, Calypsos....

I'm gonna regret saying this (because the thought of modeling seems overwhelming at the moment), but I'll say it anyway:

I've been thinking of trying my hand at modeling. I have GMax loaded on my machine, and I have the Warpaint Venom publication that has scale three-view drawings. Here's the rub: I have not been able to get GMax to fire up correctly (the viewports are not crisp, they are hazy....and I am running Windows XP SP2). Perhaps I need to uninstall GMax and reinstall it.

Thoughts?

Hi Kent, why not pop off to our 'Developers Corner' or 'The Virtual Spanner' sections of this forum, we have loads of experts here who can advise and help on pretty much anything! Several members have started developing via this forum, so they are perfect to help you over the difficult parts.

Yep, I'll try that, because I was able to successfully re-load GMAX, and the problem went away. Now all I have to do is figure out again how to link GMAX with the FSX SDK....

I'll keep you posted!
