Hey, long time no see. Due to various reasons i've had to "give up" FS for nearly 2 years .
But anyway im getting a new computer in Januuary just for FSX . The only question is... Would an ATI 3650 HD be good enough for medium / High settings if coupled with a 2.5 ghz dual core processor and 3 gig ram?
If not I'll get myself a Nvidia 9800 GT. But i'd rather use the spare cash for addons
From what i know and understand, the sides go along the route of Intel CPU - Nvidia GFX or AMD CPU - ATI GFX... Ive just built a new rig based around a Duel Core E8500 and ive got my old 8800 GTS 640mb card, which runs FSX great.
But if you didnt see the other post about someones GFX card with reference to tomshardwear charts then take a look at this page and scroll down to your resoulution settings you plan to use and take a look at what cards come top...
Id also say that FSX will respond well to how the rest of the system is set up and matched... My FSX is on mostly customised settings with autogen on the second notch and mostly runs between 15-20 FPS (Locked at 20)
The 3ghz dualcore goes like something very smelly off a shovel. I don't have one myself but have seen one running both FS9 and FSX and it is literally a quantum leap above the 2.24 C2D I have. It also helps that the system I've seen had an 800mb Nvidia 9600 (or was it a 9800??) but as much of the 'footwork' is CPU controlled in flightsim, a lot of that speed must be attributed to the 3ghz C2D. If you can afford it mate.. go for it. You won't be disappointed ;-)
