Jersey, Guernsey...Is it possible???
Jersey, Guernsey are pretty poorly treated in FS9 (FSX dont count as it treats everyone the same unless they have an American accent :tab: )
I know that Gary Summons did some nice scenery for the airports a while back, no what I am on about is photographic scenery of the islands? Now with google earth, google maps and microshafts virtual earth would it not be possible to make such a scenery backdrop for the islands? I know jacksh@t about scenery stuff so I thought I would ask the question of those clerver than me...just about everyone then!
I am talking freeware, but if a payware one is on the crads it would also be nice to hear of it??

Hi Tony
I don't think the Ch Is yet have proper hi res Google earth coverage which is probably why it's not happened.
A friend of Paul (Basys) was making a good looking Alderney photo scenery but not seen it released.
Regards
Rick

Hi Tony
I can't get anything better than 1 meter tiles for the channel Islands but it looks far better than it did when i tried it a year ago.
they are still very low res compared to the western Isles for example which are 30 cm resolution and look superb.
sorry for shots but has a jpg conversion problem (rebooted and ok now) but was causing an error so they are an odd size as i uses M$haft Paint to resize them ;o)

That looks good Rick
Never had much luck with Tile Proxy myself, especially with Google servers :-(
An alternative is FS Earth Tiles. (http://www.fspassengers.com/forum/read. ... 634&t=4634 )
That downloads the photo tiles then creates either FSX or FS9 scenery files.

Re: Jersey, Guernsey...Is it possible???
Hi DG
I have TP set up as it installs and i manually set google and set the water threshold at 500 meters so that i can see shallow water detail.
the latest version just works.
no fiddling needed really.
try it.
